Mr. Rubinstein, It is very difficult to believe with your dedication to the history of our country and support of museums that you would even suggest possibly number four where in a person just runs for office again and then stays in office ignoring the courts.

That's a fundamental problem we have now with an autocrat making lots of executive actions which are not supported by the law. Basically a despot is someone who operates outside the law, because he is the law. Aren't you horrified?

The legal logic makes sense, but I wonder if any modern electorate would tolerate that kind of maneuver without a serious public backlash. Constitutionally possible doesn’t always mean politically viable. The optics alone,especially in today’s climate,might be enough to kill the idea before it gets off the ground. Still, it’s a reminder that a lot of our democratic guardrails depend on norms, not just laws.
